About 

The Write Path was founded in 2003 by Marcia Grisanzio. After 15 dedicated years of teaching high school English and speech in the public schools, Marcia realized that the nature of the modern educational day didn't allow for the best learning opportunities for her students. She saw up to 150 students each day, and she worried that meaningful "educational contact time" for each student had shifted from instruction to assessment. Marcia was frustrated by the fact that 90% of her student contact time was devoted to evaluation and assessment, and if she was lucky, about 10% was spent on instruction. But when so many students stream through a traditional classroom, teachers are left with little choice. Quality instruction, she knew, was exactly the opposite. Prompted by these frustrations, she left the classroom, hoping to establish a more practical use of her skills.

The Write Path was born!

Meet the dedicated educators on our team!

Marcia Grisanzio
Owner  |  Educator

Marcia has been an educator for over 35 years. She has a B.A. in English Education (1987), and an M.Ed. in Writing Instruction (1993). She taught for 15 years as an English and speech teacher in the Chicago suburban area, and twelve of those years were spent at Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn, IL. In 2003, Marcia founded The Write Path, focusing on individual writing instruction and test preparation.​

Angela Gilmore
Educator

Angela earned her BS in Ocean Engineering in 2002, then earned her M.A.T in Math Education in 2005. She has taught math for 12 years, 10 of them at Wheaton North. Her unique background is an asset as she works to illustrate the real world implications of math and science. Angela has been with us since 2016.

Tim Maiste
Educator

Tim joined us for the 2019-20 session. Tim has been an educator for 28 years, with a wide variety of experience teaching at the grade school, middle school, and high school levels. He has an M.Ed. in Math (2010) and another in Curriculum and Instruction (1999). He currently teaches math at Hubble Middle School.

Michelle Neibch
Educator

Michelle has a B.S. in Business (1999), and her M.A.T in Math Education (2008). She has taught math at Wheaton North High School for her entire professional career, and is excited to augment her classroom instruction with test preparation.  Michelle has been with us since 2012. 

Tom Sandlund
Educator

Tom has a B.S. in Math (1982), and his M.S. in Education (1986). He taught math for 32 years at Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn, IL. He has been with The Write Path for 12 years, working as an educator inside and outside the traditional classroom setting.
